I usually like to depict my subjects in their natural environment.

However, when this giraffe came so close to the vehicle it was too good an opportunity to miss. The subsequent image has become of my favourite portraits I’ve taken to date.

The beautiful Maasai giraffe stared directly down my camera lens. Having a clear background really helps accentuate the details of a subject. This allows you to see hairs, patterns and markings clearly.
